The stem cell podcast is a great show about all things stem cell. It’s a great run-down of ongoing stem cell science (and engineering!). I haven’t listened to the show yet…too shy :). Have a listen and let me know what you think!
It’s been a long time coming…

This run on the cover of the Sunday January 18 Health & Science section, with some nice full color photos. Sweet!
Bob will visit the lab and give a joint ECE/BME seminar:

A.R. Cohen and P.M.B. Vitanyi, “Normalized Compression Distance of Multisets with Applications,” IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence. 2014. In Press. Also arXiv:1212.5711
Woo hoo!
Source code will be on https://git-bioimage.coe.drexel.edu in the OpenSource section…
it’s all about the cables…
this new workstation will be used primarily for running applications like AITP that are highly CPU intensive.
it has dual 12 core Xeon CPUs – 48 cores hyperthreaded. the two Xeons are under the massive fans near the top of the case.
10 drives total, for 20TB of hard drive storage with a mix of RAID 5 (code and data) and RAID 0 (images)
128GB RAM, 3GB VRAM (NVIDIA GTX 780)
Thanks to Zac Cohen and Eric Wait for putting it all together!
